Internet addiction and ways too get out of them. |
If you use Facebook-Twitter more often, do you mind studying? For many, the overuse of social media leads to disillusionment with education. This has come up in a recent study. Researchers in the UK say that students who use digital technology too much have less incentive to study. They are more worried about the exam. This was reported in a report by IANS.
This research article has been published in the journal 'Computer Assisted Learning'. According to the article, the feeling of loneliness created by the use of digital technology exacerbated the excessive use of social communication.
Phil Reed, a researcher at Swansea University in the UK, says students with extra internet are at risk of being less enthusiastic about studying. The negative consequences of this affect their institutional outcomes.
Researchers launched a hygiene degree course in 285 students to conduct the study. Students' use of digital technology is examined. In addition, their education skills, motivation, anxiety, and loneliness were monitored. There is a negative correlation between internet addiction and motivation for reading. In addition, they also showed increased anxiety during the exam.
Research shows that Internet-addiction increases loneliness and makes the study of loneliness more complicated. Twenty-five percent of the students who participated in the study said they spent 4 hours a day online. Others talk about spending 1 to 3 hours a day online.
Ways to reduce internet addiction:
1. Create a log of how much time you are spending.
2. Set a timer of how much time you spend on the internet.
3. Remove addictive internet apps from your device.
4. Turn your device off when socializing.
5. Keep your phone in another room to avoid bedtime use.
